The project is classified in this fashion since it is a low-income housing project with administrative offices and vocational training for a non-profit organization.

THE PROGRAM
The program presented was a low income building complex designed for victims of domestic abuse, containing an emergency shelter, transitional housing, vocational training, administrative offices, and a related commercial business center. The design criteria was to design a complex of buildings, to be built in phases, and aesthetically pleasing to fit with the surrounding neighborhood.

THE SOLUTlON
The Architect assisted in site selection, front end design services, presentation drawings, cost estimation, and assistance in funding source applications.

.

The initial concept was revised to accommodate funding agency requirements, however, the project maintained a quality of design without exceeding the proposed budget. Design features include a blend of one and two story elements with gable end features to create interest. The use of wood trusses for nearly all roofed areas, as well as low maintenance finish materials helped to provide an under budget, low maintenance cost project. The siting of buildings creates a community within itself, keyed to functioning for the purpose intended. The individual buildings have subtle color changes to add interest to the design. Landscaping was donated in part and coordinated with the Architect.

The project is 70% complete with funding applied for the remaining buildings
